Against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic in Russia, the consumption of personal protective equipment continues to grow - masks, gloves and antiseptics. Production copes with the influx of buyers, but at the same time, cases of fraud and production of low-quality PPE have become more frequent. In Kazan, the police liquidated an underground workshop, where they seized 9 tons of homemade solution - instead of disinfecting, it caused allergies.
“Products necessary to counter the pandemic must also be protected from unscrupulous market players. Disinfectants are an important element of prevention. The demand for antiseptics in 2020 has grown more than 50 times, such an explosive consumption has led to the activity of unscrupulous entrepreneurs who distribute products that do not have state registration or inappropriate composition,”said Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.
Pharmaceutical safety expert Vladimir Anikeev told Zvezda about ways to check the quality of protective equipment. For example, when choosing a disposable mask, you should give preference to three-layer ones - they provide a higher degree of protection. To check the quality of the mask, the expert suggested trying to blow out the burning candle. It is difficult to do this in a high-quality mask, the expert noted.
