Many people complain about life for no particular reason. Yes, there are different problems. For example, a 28-year-old Moroccan woman with a rare genetic allergy to ultraviolet radiation must wear a spacesuit to protect herself.

A resident of Morocco, Fatima Ghazaoui, since two years old, has been suffering from a rare disease - pigmented xeroderma, hypersensitivity to ultraviolet radiation. Now the woman is 28 years old, and she said that for more than two decades she had not gone outside without her protective mask, which she calls "NASA mask."

At the age of two, Fatima Ghazaoui was diagnosed with xeroderma pigmentosa after her parents worried about the number of freckles on her skin. People with this condition sunbathe easily even on a cloudy day. Xeroderma pigmentosa makes the patient's skin unable to recover from exposure to ultraviolet radiation and causes visible signs of dryness and aging of the skin. The skin suffers from sunburn, there is a high risk of developing cancerous conditions. Fatima has been trying to avoid daylight all her life and lives, one might say, at night. She uses SPF 90 sunscreen, which needs to be applied about once an hour. The windows in her house are equipped with special UV filters. If, nevertheless, going out into the street during the day cannot be avoided, Fatima puts on her “astronaut's helmet” and protective gloves.

When the girl was 13 years old, she had to stop going to school because of the danger of being in the sun. At the age of 16, Fatima learned that her ailment could lead to premature death due to the risk of developing skin cancer. At first it scared her, but then Fatima decided to share her story with other people suffering from this allergy.

To date, Fatima has already undergone 55 surgeries to remove problem areas on the eyes, tongue, nose and head. According to this brave woman, the only thing a person can do in such a situation is to try to live life as fully as possible and remain optimistic.

“It is important for me to talk about my illness so that people know about its danger. I am an optimist and I believe that I can inspire many people. I want to tell them to live every day as if it is their last. Whatever happens, life is short, so it is important to live life to the fullest,”said Fatima.
