A resident of the American city of Charleston, South Carolina, grew a thick monobrow and was criticized by netizens who began to compare part of her face with the McDonald's logo. Haylee Michalski, 22, shared her story with the Daily Mail.
According to the heroine, she had to pluck the area between her eyebrows for hours to make sure they were as far apart as possible. The process was exhausting and time-consuming, and therefore, tired of striving to get closer to beauty standards, Michalski decided to stop removing hair.
“I was very nervous when I decided to grow a monobrow. I knew that this was something that would distinguish me, and that most would not understand or approve of my choice. Not many people would be able to wear a unibrow proudly, and I would like to be one of those who are not afraid of what society says about their understanding of beauty,”said the model.
Michalsky admitted that she often has to deal with insults in her address. “People say I have a McDonald's logo on my forehead. Some people argue that I have to remove my hair to get "hotter". Someone compares me to Frida Kahlo, which I really appreciate because she inspires me and is my idol. I definitely get more hate than positive comments,”she shared.
The heroine of the material explained that her main goal is to show people that body hair is normal, and that you should not think about the opinions of others when it comes to personal comfort and self-confidence.
“My advice to you is: do whatever makes you feel comfortable. I do not want anyone to feel pressure from society about how they should look. Each person is beautiful in their own way, with or without a monobrow. No one should be ashamed of who he is,”Michalski said.
In January, a young Danish makeup artist grew a thick black monobrow and became famous online. The girl gave up plucking her eyebrows in March 2019, despite the fact that her friends were against it. She decided to take such a step after seeing how other makeup artists on Instagram drew one wide eyebrow on the faces of the models.
