MINSK, October 22. / TASS /. Arsons committed near the buildings of the prosecutor's office in Zhodino and Soligorsk (Minsk region) against the backdrop of protest actions indicate a high likelihood of a terrorist threat to Belarus. This was announced on Thursday by the press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic Olga Chemodanova.

"It is obvious that yesterday's thematic protests are developing into terrorist threats. Law enforcement officials will not ignore any such case and will take all measures to suppress and solve crimes," she wrote on the Telegram channel.

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Belarus on Thursday opened a criminal case into the arson of cars near the building of the prosecutor's office in Soligorsk. The crime was qualified under the article on malicious hooliganism. As a result of the incident, four cars were damaged.

It was also established that not long before that unknown persons had set fire to the building of the inter-district department of the State Committee for Forensic Examination in Soligorsk. One of the offices was damaged by fire.

In addition, the Investigative Committee of Belarus reported on the arrest of a suspect in damaging the door of the prosecutor's office in Zhodino on October 8.

Massive protests have been taking place in Belarus since the election day on August 9. According to the CEC, the current president of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, won with 80.10% of the vote. The second place with 10.12% was taken by Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, she did not recognize the results of the vote and took part in the creation of the Coordination Council of the opposition. In the first days, the actions turned into violent clashes between protesters and law enforcement agencies. The opposition calls on the protests to continue, the authorities demand to stop illegal actions.
