Charlotte Bouchard, sister of the famous Canadian tennis player Eugenie Bouchard, said that she was so ashamed of her acne that she began to be afraid to leave the house without a thick layer of makeup.

The 23-year-old shared her story with the British online portal Daily Mail. According to her, her skin has been prone to acne since adolescence, but at the age of 20, the situation escalated to the limit. Therefore, for two years, she regularly applied a thick layer of foundation on them to make the problem less noticeable.

“Cystic acne has really taken a toll on my self-esteem. I was afraid to wake up and find new painful pimples on my face. I couldn't leave the house without covering my face with a thick layer of foundation, but it was a vicious circle, because this way I blocked my pores, and the problem worsened even more. Skin problems led to the fact that I became less sociable, became almost paranoid, because it seemed to me that people were staring at my every pimple,”explained Charlotte Bouchard.

The girl adds that her skin looked really sore and seemed to be infected with some kind of disease, and it really hurt. At first, acne was only on the forehead, then began to appear on the jaw line and spread to the cheeks and back.

Charlotte is sure that the intrauterine device caused the acne aggravation, because it began exactly after its installation. After 5 months, the girl removed it, but skin problems persisted. Desperate to cope with the situation on her own, she consulted a dermatologist, who prescribed strong medications for her. This helped for a while, but then there was a relapse of the disease. In addition, the drugs caused a number of side effects, in particular, itching and dry skin and chapped lips, so the Canadian decided to abandon them and found an easier solution to the problem. She gave up sugar, alcohol and dairy products, followed a vegetarian diet and took probiotics daily. After the change in nutrition, her skin cleared, there was no trace of peeling and psoriasis, but the 23-year-old girl still recalls with horror that difficult period of her life.
