Santiago is the capital and largest city of Chile and one of the most populous cities in South America. We are not so often interested in how the life of people in other countries looks like, especially those that are far from us. With these retro shots, you can slightly fill the gap and find out what the boys and girls of Santiago were in 1972-1974.
Many of these young people are like students from wealthy families, that is, such a “central” youth in the capital. It feels like the photographer caught them somewhere at a big break near the university.
All this was before the dictator Augusto Pinochet came to power. Under him, everyone began to walk in military uniform, and the disaffected went to concentration camps or were shot at the Santiago stadium.
