Only antibody test results were taken into account.

The collective immunity from coronavirus in the Nizhny Novgorod region is 26 27% at the moment, said the chief sanitary doctor of the region, head of the Rospotrebnadzor department for the Nizhny Novgorod region Natalia Kucherenko during a press conference on March 5.

Laboratories in the region do tests for antibodies and transfer this information to the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor. Thanks to this, specialists can see how collective immunity is distributed among different ages and categories of citizens.

“If after suffering pneumonia about 60 70% have immunity, then after suffering from acute respiratory infections - about 50% have immunity, among healthy people - about 15%. 26 27% is a total of all categories,”noted Natalia Kucherenko.

As the chief sanitary doctor of the region clarified, collective immunity is calculated precisely among those who have been tested for antibodies - in fact, it may be higher.

In addition, vaccination against coronavirus will also contribute to an increase in immunity.

“Now, in our region, as well as in the whole country, there is an opportunity to take a root, and we are very pleased with this fact. Today, the vaccine comes to our health care constantly, and those who wish have the opportunity to get vaccinated. And this is also a contribution to our collective immunity,”noted Natalia Kucherenko.

At the moment, 103 vaccination points have been opened in the region, which have all the conditions for storing vaccines at -18 ° C.

“I hope that now we will get out of this situation in terms of the incidence of coronavirus and will prepare for the fall season of the rise in respiratory infections. Of course, this virus will not go anywhere, it will be with us, probably for a long time, forever. We just need to learn to live with him. If there is already a vaccine, this is a huge breakthrough with any infectious pathology. Now this infectious pathology is becoming a vaccine-preventable infection, and this is a very big plus. Because there is no control - all that remains for us, as at the initial stage, is the severing of social ties through masks, through distancing,”said Natalia Kucherenko.

According to her, when herd immunity reaches 60%, cases of coronavirus will become isolated and COVID-19 can be easily dealt with.
