The programmer Konstantin Kotov, sentenced to 1.5 years in prison under Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (repeated violations at rallies), was released. He was serving his sentence in correctional colony 2 in Pokrov in the Vladimir region.

“I want to see everyone, hug everyone who supported me, [meet] my friends, relatives, acquaintances, those who constantly wrote letters to me. Thank you all. Look at Moscow, at the world around us,”the activist said after his release, quoted by Novaya Gazeta.

Konstantin Kotov was released from the colony at 06:30 am on December 16. He was greeted by his wife Anna Pavlikova, a defendant in the “New Greatness” case, with whom they were married in a pre-trial detention center, as well as lawyers and defendants in the “Moscow case” Vladislav Barabanov, Danil Beglets, Alexei Minyailo.

On September 5, 2019, the Tverskoy Court of Moscow sentenced 34-year-old Konstantin Kotov to four years in prison for repeated violations at rallies. Later, the cassation court sent the Kotov case for review to the Moscow City Court, the term of imprisonment was reduced to one and a half years.

Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Repeated violation of the established procedure for organizing or holding a meeting, meeting, demonstration, procession or picketing" is called "Dadinskaya".
