The Ministry of Agriculture plans to end subsidies for the purchase of imported planting material, Kommersant reports. Agricultural holdings of Russia spent more than 360 million last year on the purchase of seedlings abroad. According to the developers of this change, it will increase the share of Russian planting material and thus send additional funds to domestic nurseries. Igor Mukhanin, President of the Association of Gardeners, supports this proposal. According to him, the amount of state support, taking into account regional subsidies, can reach 1.2 million rubles. for each hectare of the planted garden, and all these funds can return to the Russian economy. However, the National Fruit and Vegetable Union (NPS) believes that subsidizing only domestic planting material can have negative consequences. Namely, the rise in prices for seedlings and a decrease in their quality, which occurs in the absence of competition with foreign companies. The share of Russian seedling producers in our market this year amounted to 48.6%. Igor Mukhanin believes that, having received the benefits of subsidies, they will be able to increase the production of seedlings by 15 million (at the current level of more than 20 million) and prevent a shortage of planting material.
