War and post-war years
Obviously, during the war, women had no time for beauty and fashion. The entire population of a huge country was trying to simply survive. Closer to the middle of the twentieth century, the post-war economy was improved, and the cult of plump and strong women again began to dominate in the country. The war passed, there were few men left, and the country was counting only on strong female shoulders.
Towards the end of the 70s, slender and thin girls began to appear in the USSR. However, they did not find any special followers. After all, harmony and beauty were still far from the main qualities of a Soviet girl. It was much more important to be able to work on a machine or to look after a huge household.

At the end of the 80s of the last century, perestroika began in the Soviet Union and, along with it, the breakdown of all stereotypes. In addition, in 1988, a beauty contest was held in the country for the first time, and Western magazines with slender beauties on the cover began to appear on the shelves of kiosks.
