Yes, summer in our climate is short-lived (or it is not at all), and more often than not we wear closed shoes, not open sandals. It would seem, why waste time and money on a pedicure?

It is worth it, experts say, because a pedicure is a story not so much about the beauty of nails as about their health. We asked Daria Shishunova, a master of manicure and pedicure at the Wax & Go salon, to talk about the well-being of unadorned nails.

1. "Dry" pedicure will save the legs of those for whom the standard procedure is not suitable

In addition to the standard pedicure with water, which in the bulk of everyone does, there is an anhydrous pedicure - or, as it is also called, "dry pedicure".

For those people who have dry and dehydrated skin of the feet, an anhydrous pedicure is recommended. This procedure does not violate the skin's protective barrier and helps retain moisture inside.

In addition, dry pedicure helps to save time - it does not require preliminary steaming of the feet (usually this stage takes 14-20 minutes). With anhydrous pedicure, the skin is processed with disposable abrasive surfaces (files), with which the master removes only the stratum corneum.

Since the skin is treated in such a gentle way, the regeneration mechanism in the body is turned on less actively, so the growth of cuticles and skin around the nails slows down.

2. Uncomfortable shoes are the main enemy of a pedicure

Yes, this fact does not directly apply to a pedicure, but uncomfortable and incorrectly selected shoes affect the beauty and health of your feet.

Keep in mind that heels with heights of 7 and 10 cm look almost the same, but from 7 cm, there is less harm to the legs (and to the spine).

Over and over again buying uncomfortable shoes (narrow, inappropriate size), people often do not realize what terrible consequences this leads to. The phalanges of the fingers are slowly but surely deformed, the shape of the nails changes. All this can lead to various diseases that affect the appearance of the feet and their beauty, as well as accelerate the growth of calluses and lead to severe skin roughness.

3. It's better not to experiment with calluses on your own

These are not empty words and not a desire to drag you into the salon for the procedure by all means.

When trying to solve a problem at home, people often do not distinguish between, for example, corns and corns.

Whereas for each type of corns, there is a way to safely remove it.

Flat calluses (corns) can indeed be removed on your own. They need to be processed mechanically with a nail file. The main thing is to moisturize the skin well after the procedure.

Core calluses form between the toes. This type of callus must be removed only by a specialist using the hardware method. This is the most reliable way to get rid of the problem, because after removing such calluses - for example, with a laser - relapses very often occur.

Calluses that form on the phalanges of the extreme fingers, for example, on the little fingers, are well removed with any callus plaster, which contains salicylic acid.

4. It is possible to solve the problem of an ingrown toenail without surgery.

Previously, a person faced with the problem of an ingrown toenail understood that, apart from the surgeon and the removal of the nail plate, no one and no one would help him. Now the situation has changed.

A podiatrist (a doctor who deals with feet) will deal with ingrown nails with the help of titanium threads, staples.

5. Before the end of puberty, children should have a special pedicure

The main task of a parent or a master who works with children's nails is not to damage the not yet formed nail growth zone.

Manipulations such as the removal of the cuticle, the formation of the lateral sides of the nail plate, it is better to leave until the end of puberty.

Children are only advised to remove the length of the nail and remove the burrs.
