According to the British online portal Dily Mail, because of her addiction, the British woman could lose the entire right half of her nose, as a small darkened area of skin on the nostril, which she noticed in winter, turned out to be a malignant tumor.

Lauren said that before Christmas 2018, she returned from another trip, where she was actively tanning, and found a slight darkening on her nose. At first, the woman did not pay much attention to it, but it gradually began to increase in size. True, and this did not alert her - six months later, she went on a new trip to Italy, where, of course, she was intensely sunbathing. This time, however, the Briton was still worried - while the whole body acquired a golden hue, the spot on the nostril remained suspiciously pale.

Upon returning home from vacation, Lauren first went to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with basal cell carcinoma, an aggressive form of skin cancer that grows very quickly. “Now I am ashamed to admit it,” the woman explains. - I was not careful in the sun. I did not use protective equipment, I was burned. The spot on my nose was so small that it didn't seem very scary, but the doctors said the cancer was spreading under my skin and was doing it quickly. But I just wanted to have a natural tan, but, unfortunately, I never approached it intelligently."

Doctors did not give any predictions, because they did not fully understand how much the cancer had developed. In the worst case, the Briton could lose the entire right half of the nose. As a result, the surgeons performed an emergency operation on Lauren using the Mohs micrographic surgery method, the essence of which is the layer-by-layer removal of the affected tissue, followed by testing it for oncology. This method was chosen to try and preserve the patient's nose. Lauren took three surgeries to finally get rid of the cancer. Then she underwent reconstructive plastics. “I was very lucky to have friends, family and my boyfriend by my side who supported me at all stages. But I never expected to face mental problems. After the operation, I behaved like a paranoid for a while, fearful of going out into the sun. Now it has become easier, but without a cream with SPF 50+ protection, I now do not leave the house, "- said the woman.
