According to the data of the Center for Research on Federal and Regional Alcohol Markets, published earlier in the media, the Kaliningrad region in 2020 became the leader in terms of the growth rate of vodka consumption - 5.6 liters per person. "This summer we had an unprecedented influx of tourists who pushed the statistics and contributed to the increase in alcohol sales," Lyskov said. He added that at the beginning of the pandemic, amid a lack of disinfectants, many residents treated their hands and surfaces with vodka, increasing sales of this alcoholic product. According to the data, in 2020 per capita consumption of vodka in Russia was 4.9 liters, which is 2% more than in 2019. Earlier, alcohol producers responded to the call to ban the sale of spirits. The head of the Union of Alcohol Producers urged the authorities to ignore such initiatives.
