MOSCOW, January 14. / TASS /. About 3.7 million Russians, which is 6% of the total number of working citizens, will continue to work remotely. The Ministry of Labor expects this indicator to drop to 5% after the removal of all restrictions, the head of the department, Anton Kotyakov, said on Thursday.

"The number of people employed (remotely - TASS) is gradually decreasing due to the removal of certain restrictions. Now we see that the number of people employed in our country is about 3.7 million, which is 6%. We expect that, probably, after the removal of all restrictions their number will also decrease and there will be about 5% of the total number of employees - this is somewhere between 2.7-2.8 million people, "he said, speaking at the Gaidar Forum.

Kotyakov added that, nevertheless, this is significantly higher than the indicators of the pre-pandemic period. "So the tendency to involve more workers in the remote employment format will continue in the future," the minister said.

Kotyakov recalled that during the peak period of the pandemic during May-June 2020, 11% of Russians worked remotely.

The Gaidar Forum is an annual international scientific and practical conference in the field of economics, which has been held since 2010. The organizers of the forum are the Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation (RANEPA), the V. I. E. T. Gaidar and the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia (AIRR). TASS is the general information partner of the forum.
