The head of the Russian Environmental Operator (REO), Ilya Gudkov, is leaving his chair after only eight months in office. According to him, the decision to leave the post was made by him some time ago. Gudkov also did not dare to assess the quality of his work as the head of the REO himself.
"Eight months - not such a long time for the implementation of an important task, which was the main one for me, - quotes the official website of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, Gudkov's appeal. - This is the creation of a federal scheme for the collection, treatment and disposal of garbage, which includes the calculation and optimization of the necessary infrastructure to achieve the targets set by the president. Namely, halving the burial and one hundred percent waste treatment. It was a challenge for me. Whether I coped with him or not - it's not for me to judge. But on my part it was not a spontaneous decision. "
On the website of the Ministry of Natural Resources, it is noted that the decision to resign Gudkov was made after "the development of a federal scheme for waste management, which is the foundation for the full digitalization of this industry with the aim of its transparency."
The resignation of Ilya Gudkov should not affect the work of the REO, noted the head of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources Dmitry Kobylkin: “The organization is working as usual. <…> Now the next stage of the company's development is coming, which needs to be taken to a new level, namely, to ensure the attraction of investments. The construction of a complete investment cycle is to be dealt with by the new chapter of the PPK "REO".
The decree on the creation of a public law company "Russian Ecological Operator" was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in mid-January 2019. The tasks of the REO include, among other things, control over the implementation of legislation in the field of waste management.
