Scientists at Cornell University have developed headphones that are capable of not only playing an audio track, but also recognizing human facial expressions. Using this technology, you can share emotions with Internet interlocutors and control music applications, according to the Cornell University website.
The C-Face headphones are equipped with special RGB cameras located under each ear. They fix the contractions of the facial muscles along the contours of the cheeks. The data from the cameras are processed using artificial intelligence. Then the neural network transforms the resulting image into 42 key points on the face, which are used to recognize facial expressions. Technology can read a person's facial expression even when wearing a mask.

The authors of the project argue that with the help of C-Face it is possible to transfer the emotions of players to their avatars in computer games, teachers will be able to see the involvement of students during online lectures, and this technology can also be configured to control the facial signals of some computer functions, such as an audio player.
In February 2019, the MIR 24 TV channel talked about a Chinese engineer who built a shelter for cats with a face recognition system. The technology determined in advance the approach to the cat's house and opened the doors of the room where the animals could eat, warm up and rest. In May last year, China developed an application for recognizing pandas' faces, which made it possible to obtain more data about these animals.
