Stanislav Kosarev, director of the Institute of Information Technologies of the Synergy University, taught Russians to recognize editing and Photoshop in photographs. According to him, the most rude fakes can be recognized through attentiveness. He shared his advice in an interview with the Prime agency.

The expert advised to pay attention to light and shadows if the picture shows a group of people. You need to make sure that all objects cast shadows in the correct direction, and there are no orphan shadows in the photo. He gave a common example where, due to the deliberate curvature of objects in the photo, such as aligning the oval of the face, distorts objects in the background: trees and houses.

Kosarev also recommends uploading a photo to a popular search engine and trying to find the original image in order to understand what exactly was changed on it. Another way is the Image Error level analysis tool, which is able to find the changed areas in the photo and highlight them by compressing and the number of pixels in the image.

Earlier, the head of Goznak, Arkady Trachuk, said that the most common forgery of a document is a re-pasted photograph. He noted that if within a few years decisions are made to implement the e-passport project, then there will be no need to modernize its paper version.
