The coronavirus pandemic has lasted for almost a year, and many have already become accustomed to the new reality. However, a family from the UK has yet to explain to their relative what COVID-19 is.

The Guardian writes about an unusual case. According to the publication, 19-year-old Joseph Flavill just recently woke up from a 10-month coma and knows nothing about the pandemic that has turned the whole world upside down.

The teenager fell into a coma after being hit by a car on March 1, 2020. This happened almost a week before the WHO announced a pandemic. It is noteworthy that during this period he contracted the coronavirus twice and recovered.

“A year ago, if someone had told me what was going to happen in the last year, I don't think I would have believed it. I have no idea how Joseph is going to come to understand what we have all been through,”his aunt said.

She added that the family had not yet explained to the teenager the extent of the pandemic, but they tried to inform Joseph via video link that they could not be with him in the hospital due to viral restrictions.

It is noted that the young man has not yet fully recovered, but he has already begun to move his arms and legs, as well as respond with a blink and a smile. “When he can really come face to face with the virus, we will have the opportunity to try to explain to him what happened,” the woman said.
