The United States continues to exert crude and illegal pressure on the Nord Stream 2 project, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President. When asked by RIA Novosti to comment on the new sanctions on the project, Peskov recalled that in the morning he had already given an answer to a question on this topic.
Then Peskov, at the request of journalists, commented on the plans of the American government to impose sanctions against the pipe-laying vessel Fortuna and its owner. A presidential spokesman said: "This international project continues to face brutal, illegal US pressure." He also noted that actions aimed at imposing restrictions on economic operators that are illegal from the point of view of international law continue and grow. Russia is monitoring the situation in order to continue work on the finalization of the project.
Now the said sanctions have been officially introduced - the US Treasury announced this. "In the morning at a conference call I answered a similar question," Peskov recalled to RIA Novosti in response to a request to comment on them.
